Flawless project execution: Exyte wins top prize at 10th SPMI “Project of the Year Awards” for semiconductor project in Singapore
Exyte claimed the top spot at the 10th Singapore Project Management Institute (SPMI) Project of the Year Awards for its successful completion of the project “FabNext” for Siltronic in Singapore. Competing in the Engineering and Construction category for large projects valued at over SGD 200 million (approximately EUR 150 million), the awards honors organizations for their accomplishments in executing major projects in Singapore.
"The win is a great recognition of our team's collective and remarkable display in completing the project with both quality and an exceptional safety performance."

The project for the German wafer manufacturer, with an area equivalent to roughly 20 soccer fields, involved the design and construction of a new greenfield manufacturing campus including both wafer and crystal pulling fabs. It also featured related buildings like a central utility building and administration offices, as well as other site support infrastructures.
The win marks the fifth consecutive time that Exyte has been awarded at the prestigious SPMI annual event; however, it is the first for the company has claimed the top spot. Prior to this, Exyte achieved 1st runner-up wins at four previous editions of the event.
“I am extremely thrilled for our project team for bringing this trophy home for Exyte. The win is a great recognition of their collective and remarkable display in completing the project with both quality and an exceptional safety performance,” says Jerry O’Sullivan, Senior Vice President Operations for Exyte Southeast Asia. “For Exyte to successively be amongst the top two finalists over the past few years reflects our commitment to consistently performing at the highest level. We take great pride in delivering top-class results that meet, and often exceed our clients’ expectations,” O’Sullivan added.

Steadfast project delivery excellence
This award followed another accolade that Exyte has received for the very same project as it had already won the project of the year for industrial construction at the Singapore Business Review (SBR) International Business Awards last year.
In winning the SPMI Project of the Year Award, Exyte stood out for its project execution excellence which, combined with effective collaboration with Siltronic, resulted in the project achieving Ready-For-Equipment (RFE) milestones for both the wafer and crystal pulling fabs in about 18 and 22 months from first pile respectively. These fast-track timelines were achieved while navigating through supply chain, safety, and labor challenges.
Innovative strategies prioritizing flexibility and safety
Exyte’s use of offsite double-tier precast columns and modular construction techniques as well as lateral modular design for piping accelerated the fab’s construction while minimizing safety risks. Utilizing cutting-edge technologies, Exyte maintained control and precision throughout the project. 4D Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other advanced software played a key role to achieve synchronized real-time coordination and optimized construction sequencing. All of this led to early clash detection and allowed the team to proactively implement engineering solutions, effectively avoiding or resolve any obstacles.
The result is a remarkable client satisfaction rating for project execution, with a world-class safety performance with a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.14 across more than 22 million workhours. This TRIR is substantially lower than the global industry benchmark of 2.3, reported by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Exyte – a trusted partner in delivering semiconductor facilities
The success of FabNext lays the foundation for future growth and elevates Singapore’s position as a global semiconductor hub. It has further reinforced Siltronic’s commitment to strengthening the semiconductor ecosystem and created hundreds of new jobs, boosting the local economy. Through this project, Exyte continues to demonstrate its operational excellence in semiconductor fab delivery. With innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to quality, both Exyte and Siltronic are shaping the future of technology, one wafer at a time.
