Complex challenges, innovative solutions
Exyte's Subject Matter Expert for Process Architecture based in Northern Europe and Ireland is a specialist in providing design solutions for complex projects.
For Peter Hanson, unlocking innovative solutions in site master planning and conceptual design is second nature. His 30 years of experience in Process Architecture allows him to bring the most advanced strategies to life – all with an eye towards regulatory and compliance standards.
"I have gained experience and knowledge in all aspects of process architecture design over three decades in the biopharmaceutical and life sciences industry with a variety of leading engineering companies. As a result, I am able to provide an understanding of regulatory and manufacturing processes and ensure that facility designs are compliant and optimized," Hanson explains.
Process architecture challenges and solutions
There are many complexities when it comes to process architecture, a major one being managing space constraints while also ensuring there is enough room for all equipment, operational and maintenance needs for production. Hanson's work involves front-end design and conceptual design for clients to maintain flexibility, and most importantly, find a sustainable solution.
"Finding solutions for the flow of people and materials, minimizing and optimizing bottlenecks - these become particularly challenging when balancing sustainability with practical needs," Hanson says.
Exyte's capabilities are unrivalled
Fortunately, Hanson has plenty of resources at his disposal to tackle any challenge that comes his way. "Exyte has invested heavily in innovation and technology, including modular systems such as ExyCell and conceptual tools such as ExyVision, making us a market leader."
In addition to his own expertise in understanding different requirements when it comes to various types of projects – clients get access to over three decades worth of collective design and building experience within biopharma facilities. Hanson also provides alternative solutions and challenges current norms where needed.
Meaningful and amazing
Hanson stays motivated by working towards the finished product. The successful innovations used to design these facilities will go on to produce previously unavailable medicine and therapies, which help save lives. "It's very meaningful work to be a part of. To see novel drugs and therapies, and ultimately cures for diseases developed in a facility you designed is amazing.”
