Collaborating to bring the future of technology to life
As a Subject Matter Expert for Drug Product Fill/Finish based in the US, Brant Bulgarelli ensures that Exyte's customers have the safest and most contamination free production processes possible.
In the biopharma world, it is a long process from the time it takes to develop a drug, to the time it is administered to a patient. It's not just a matter of researching and finding the right active ingredient, molecule, or therapeutic agent, but also the form in which it is administered.
That's where Bulgarelli comes in. "I would say my job is to help our clients manufacture life-saving drugs," he says.
He ensures that drugs can be produced aseptically and reliably at the client's facility. Bulgarelli has more than 25 years of drug product fill/finish experience which benefits Exyte's clients. As a Subject Matter Expert, he is their first point of contact when it comes to planning a new facility.
It is a job with an incredible amount of responsibility. Medicine must be delivered to patients without a hitch. "Trust is the most important factor in the end. People expect and trust that an administered drug or medicine is safe and effective."
That's why Exyte is not only the right employer for Bulgarelli, but also the partner of choice for pharmaceutical companies. "Exyte has an impeccable reputation as a global company. And that's important: because in each country there are different regulations that you need to be aware of when it comes to the pharmaceutical industry. Luckily, Exyte has a wealth of experience, and this is very important when it comes to building and developing new facilities.”
And there is another advantage of Exyte for Bulgarelli: the different business areas. "Exyte not only builds pharmaceutical facilities, but semiconductor factories. We can learn a lot from their automated processes for the pharmaceutical industry." This can make processes “even more effective, cost-efficient, and safe," says Bulgarelli.
"One day, true 'lights out' production will be the norm, completely taken over by robots and automation. Clean rooms that no longer need to be entered by humans. This will enable the creation of more streamlined processes. As well as that, it would become easier for drugs produced in these facilities to be completely sterile and safe, as no human interaction would be needed,” Bulgarelli says.
