With strategic acquisitions, Exyte has strengthened its Business Area Technology and Services (T&S). By integrating the new subsidiaries into the portfolio, Exyte is becoming a company that is bigger than the sum of its parts.
Exyte and particularly its T&S business is on a journey of expansion and growth. With the acquisition and subsequent integration of several specialized US-based companies, Exyte has added products, services, manpower, knowledge, and experience to its portfolio of mission-critical equipment and installation services.
Stainless steel corrosive fume exhaust ducts from Fab-Tech in Vermont, chemical distribution systems from Diversified Fluid Solutions (DFS) in Idaho, point-of-use abatement systems from Airgard in California, tangential flow filtration systems from BioPharm Engineered Systems in Massachusetts – these are only four examples of the dozens of products and services that Exyte has on offer now. By seamlessly integrating the products and services of these acquired entities, Exyte not only designs, engineers and builds state-of-the-art facilities but also provides a complete spectrum of tailored solutions for any kind of operations. This makes the company the most comprehensive full-service provider for clients in the semiconductor as well as the biopharma and life sciences industries.

Conquering the global market
While the acquisitions add value to Exyte, the acquired companies also do well as part of the Exyte orchestra. One such company is Diversified Fluid Solutions from Boise, Idaho.
Its co-founder and Senior Director Global Business Development Darren Willey has been working in the semiconductor industry for 30 years and is impressed by the current growth perspectives: “The demand at DFS and the semiconductor industry in general is rapidly growing. Right now, we’re doing more business than ever, and opportunities open up for us on a daily basis.”

“The semiconductor business relies on familiar industry trends.”
While DFS was already acting globally before the acquisition by Exyte in 2021, it’s now part of something bigger. “For us at DFS it’s about leveraging Exyte as a global company, using those connections to get into other places of the world, and moving our people into strategic areas that benefit both DFS and Exyte,” Willey says. For instance, a large DFS client with a facility in South-East Asia can now access the services of the company more easily through Exyte’s presence in the region. The same applies for clients of Airgard that directly benefit from local Exyte employees in Asia and Europe taking over the commissioning and maintenance of Airgard’s abatement solutions.
Collaborative approach serves project quality
Jason Medhurst, Director of Sales at Airgard, is thrilled with the positive outcomes resulting from the acquisition by Exyte: “This transition quickly uncovered significant cross-selling opportunities between our organizations. It also revealed collaboration prospects between Exyte as the parent company and the subsidiaries for gas room works on a major semiconductor project.”
This collaborative approach is now being implemented in projects for other clients, fostering shared relationships and applications. With its suite of products in the T&S business, Exyte can address all kinds of challenges from a comprehensive perspective. “We have worked together to assist clients leveraging relationships across all our companies. This collaborative network, dedicated to helping clients find optimal solutions, provides us with a distinct competitive advantage,” Medhurst emphasizes.
To meet the resulting ever-increasing demand for their products and services, Exyte and its subsidiaries are also investing in additional and bigger production facilities. While DFS in Boise, and Nuance Systems (NSI) in Portland, Oregon, are expanding their production sites in their hometowns, two other Exyte subsidiaries have established a physical presence in the Czech Republic to better service their European clients. The new workshops of Fab-Tech and NEHP in the West of the country are a result of the investments that top-tier semiconductor companies have announced in the eastern part of Germany and other European countries.

Attractive production hubs right next to large-scale projects
Czechia is also one of the three countries where Exyte Technology operates. The specialized division within Exyte is focusing specifically on products for controlled environments such as filter fan units and parts of stainless-steel air conditioning systems.
Lucie Weberova has been leading the operations of Exyte Technology in the Czech Republic since 2017 and started with a small team of 10 local employees. Today there are about 180 people working for Exyte and its subsidiaries in the country. In 2023 Weberova and her team celebrated the opening of a second workshop in the North-West of the country.
Czechia stands out as an enticing hub for industrial production, because of its strategic position in Central Europe, robust infrastructure, favorable business environment and a well-educated, highly skilled workforce. While Exyte Technology competes for recruits with the automotive sector, this challenge is at the same time the biggest advantage in sourcing talent, Weberova notes. “The semiconductor business with all its facets holds so much potential for the future, and Exyte with its growth and purpose of creating a better future appeal to our employees in Czechia.”
